Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

Why was picgo created?
We are fans of Dropbox. We love Dropbox. We store all of our photos in Dropbox. We wanted an easy way to create customizable photo albums without having to upload our photos to another photo hosting service. Dropbox currently has a feature to create web albums using your photos, but it suffers from two drawbacks. First, the photos must be stored in a special directory within your Dropbox. And second, the albums it creates are not customizable: you cannot set captions or reorder the photos in the album.

Dropbox

Is linking my Dropbox account to picgo safe?
Yes, absolutely. picgo does not store your Dropbox password. We only store authentication tokens that you can revoke at any time either via your account settings or via Dropbox.
Will my albums be available if I unlink my account?
Yes. We cache your photos locally to improve performance so your albums will still be available.

Google Accounts

Why do I need a Google Account to use picgo?
Since picgo is hosted on the Google App Engine, we decided it was easiest to use Google Accounts for authentication. This means you have one less username and password to remember.
Can you access my Google Account/Gmail/etc.?
No, absolutely not. We do not have access to your Google Account password or any of your personal information.

About picgo

What happened to the old picgo.com?
picgo was originally created in 2002 as a photo hosting site. After it's original release that year, no further updates were made to the site. It became out-dated over the last 10 years. To launch this new site, we decided to revise the picgo brand and launch the new webapp under this name.
